Poke in California... or, Anywhere!

If you don't already know, poke is a dish that consisted of raw fish like salmon or tuna, and greens and/or grains. You can usually find it in Hawaii and it's starting to come to California and other western states. I'm talking about the poke in California  because I used to live in Orange County. Now, I am here on vacation! Me and my family have a poke place just down the street from here called Kamea Poke. We think it is awesome so when we fly in, We stop to get lunch! Just check This out to see some yelp reviews and directions on how to get there. I also have an awesome poke recipe that is easy and delicious.

Ahi tuna diced into cubes

White jasmine rice and/or salad greens

Soy sauce

Sesame oil

Sesame seeds (optional)

Green onions (optional)

Avocado  (optional)

In a bowl combine tuna, sesame oil, and soy sauce and mix well with hands. Add green onions and sesame seeds and mix again with hands. Serve on top of greens and grains with avocado on the side or on top.  Tip: this recipe can be use with salmon too and with other toppings like fish eggs and tempura.

  1. Kamea Poke is amazing! So fresh, and so many choices to make your own poke bowl! Thanks for sharing the recipe, too. Poke is really easy to make at home if you have some super fresh fish.
